Brooke Henderson Parents Dave And Darlene Are Both Golfers

Brooke Henderson has traveled a long way to get to where she is now, playing in LPGA events, and her parents, Dave and Darlene, have been there from the beginning.

Henderson has long been regarded as a prodigy; at age 14, she won her first professional competition as an amateur. She then decided to enroll at the "University of Florida," in favor of pursuing a career on the LPGA Tour, which has proven very successful thus far.

Brooke is tied for second among Canadian women in the LPGA with four victories in less than two years, including the KPMG Women's PGA Championship.

Additionally, she was named the Canadian Press's female athlete of the year for 2018, 2017, and 2015. Brooke has the most victories of any Canadian golfer on major professional tours, with 12 LPGA triumphs as of July 2022. Likewise, at the 2022 Evian Championship, she won her second major championship.

Not to mention, she was also chosen as the 2019 Founders Award recipient in November by other LPGA Tour players as the person "whose behavior and deeds best embody the spirit, ideals, and values of the LPGA."

Brooke Henderson's parents, Dave and Darlene, both enjoy playing golf and are retired. Dave worked at Lanark County Support Services, while he spent 31 years as a teacher for the Upper Canada District School Board, spending 15 years at "Lombardy Public School" and 16 years at "Caldwell Street Public School" in Carleton Place.

As mentioned above, her father was a teacher who also enjoyed playing golf when he was younger. He loved teaching golf and was an excellent golfer.

With every golf shot, Dave would challenge his daughter to hit the dandelion plant, rewarding her with a nickel if they succeeded.

Brooke is constantly encouraged by Dave to work on her weaknesses. He'd always wished she'd practice her swing. Every day, her father challenges her to improve and tells her what she needs to focus on.

Her Mother Darlene Also Plays A Big Contribution In Her Career

Brooke Henderson's mother plays an essential part in her development on and off the field. Her athletic prowess is not only a result of her father. Her mother was a golfer as well.

Before she reached ten, Brooke was making headlines in eastern Ontario for her golf accomplishments, with her parents serving as her coach.

With 49 Top 10 finishes and nine career professional wins, Brooke is quick to credit her parents for being such a vital part of her success.

Brooke Henderson's sister Brittany Henderson was a standout junior and college golfer. In June 2014, she received her degree from "Smiths Falls District Collegiate Institute." Brittany is seven years older than her sister.

In addition to being a big sister and caddy, Brittany also serves as a close friend and mentor. Both sisters are very supportive of each other and often credit their father for their successful careers.

Similarly, Brooke thank Dave on Father's Day for encouraging both of his children to whack golf balls from an early age. At the family course, Smiths Falls Golf and Country Club, Dave, and Brittany, who is also a fantastic golfer, would trail Brooke, the younger sister, then four, believing that whoever got the ball in the hole the fastest won.

Additionally, Dave would pay the daughters a nickel if they struck a dandelion with each golf shot at the family cottage near the Rideau Lakes Golf Club in Westport.

Brooke Family And Sister Brittany Are Her Biggest Supporters

The Henderson sisters, Brooke and Brittany, have been each other's biggest supporters. The sisters had a similar love of golf growing up in Smiths Falls and aspired to compete on the LPGA Tour.

Brittany, then 23 years old, put her golfing goals on wait to serve as Brooke's caddy in 2014 when she turned pro at age 17. Since then, the two have been exploring the globe together, developing a special friendship and making priceless memories as Brooke grows into one of Canada's most promising young golfers.

Brooke made her parents and sister proud when she won the Meijer LPGA Classic in Michigan on June 16, 2019, for the second time. This is the third LPGA tournament she has won numerous times. She now has the most victories on tours of any Canadian professional golfer in history, thanks to her eighth LPGA triumph.
